The transition of content from Funimation to Crunchyroll in many territories likely wasn’t something they wanted to hold up the rebranding of Funimation to Crunchyroll. Each service still had new simulcasts not shared with the other during the Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 seasons.

Sharing brand new simulcasts between both services (which occurred during the Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 seasons after the acquisition was completed in August 2021) was limited to only a few titles and was likely also hampered by licensing agreements. The priority of the rebranding was likely on ensuring that brand new simulcasts were only licensed for one service and brand for as many territories as possible going forward.
